Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1939 Lease Agreement

I was sifting through my special shoe box this morning and found this Lease between my grandfather and my great-grandfather (his father-in-law).

I wasn't aware that grandpa leased the farm before he bought it. James S. Poulsen was 75 at the time of this lease agreement so it was probably a good thing that grandpa was helping to support him.

Lost Family Photo From Guadalajara, Mexico

I found this old cabinet card photo of a beautiful Mexican family at the Ramona Flea Market a while back.

Unfortunately there is not enough information to know who this family is or when it was taken.

The picture was taken by A. J. Gonzalez in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The inscription on the back was hard to read because it has faded and there is a little bit of damage. I have done my best to transcribe it, and I used Google Language Tools to translate it.
a mi inolvidable esposo Heran
Liempve que veas el presente con
un ve cuerdo a ha fiel esposa e hijos jamas he olvi davan.
Maria

Google translates it to say this:
my unforgettable husband Heran
Liempve you see this with
wise to have a go faithful wife and children
I have never forgotten Davan.
I know it doesn't make too much sense. If you can figure out exactly what this says, please let me know. That would be a start in helping to identify this family.

Treasure Chest Thursday -- Handmade Doll

Among my treasures is this wonderful doll that hubby had made for me. It was my 35th birthday (my first birthday as his wife) when he surprised me with this doll that was handmade by a woman that we knew in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. That year for Christmas we had one made for my sister and mother.

Gee, I just call her doll. Do you think I should give her a name?

Treasure Chest Thursday -- Sound of Music

This record album isn't the actual one that belonged to grandma Dunn, but when I saw it at a yard sale I just had to get it. Just looking at the cover brings back treasured memories of hanging out with grandma.

Sometimes I would just sit in the dining room all by myself and listen to my favorite records among her collection. I loved listening to "How Much is that Doggie in the Window", by the Lennon Sisters, and "The Cattle Call", by Eddy Arnold.

There are two more albums of hers that I loved -- the soundtrack from the movie "Mary Poppins" which I hope to find at a yard sale, and the soundtrack to the Disney Movie "So Dear to My Heart".

If I remember right, I have her copy of "So Dear to My Heart" in mom's basement in Idaho.

Treasure Chest Thursday -- Precious Photos

The treasure I want to share this week are these precious photos of my oldest grandson.

He will be 8 years old this April and this is the last time I saw him. His mother has been in and out of prison and does not make contact. We have no idea where he is and it really wares heavy on the heart. How a mother could keep her child away from a loving father and grandparents I will never understand.
